Mircosoft Surprised Us with Their E3 Press Conference

Microsoft showed off more than 50 new games at their E3 press conference this Sunday, including 18 exclusive titles and 15 world premiers. Halo 6, Gears of War 5, Forza Horizon 4 and Crackdown 3 were some of the biggest games featured this year. We also got a bunch of release dates for some exciting games, so overall this was a big year for Microsoft.

Microsoft also announced they have acquired four new studios, including Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and Compulsion Games, plus a brand new studio called The Initiative.

This year’s conference began with a game engine demo showing off some of the graphical and lighting effects in a crazy thunderstorm running on Xbox One X, ending with a teaser for Halo 6 where Master chiefs hand can be seen holding his iconic helmet.

SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE

Japanese developer FROMSOFT took the stage next with a trailer for their new game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game is being led by Dark Souls veteran, director Hidetaka Miyazaki. According to Miyazaki, players take control of a “hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis.” The game looks to be set in the Sengoku period of Japan, and promises to offer the intense Fromsoft difficulty, challenging combat and addicting gameplay we know and love.

FALLOUT 76

Fallout 76 got its first teaser of gameplay, and according to Bethesda director, Tom Howard, the game is going to be a prequel to all the other fallout games. It will be four times the size of Fallout 4 and will be set in the hills of West Virginia, USA. From the trailer, we can see several new environments being showed off, and from what we can tell the core of the game seems to be about surviving and rebuilding after the destruction of the world, with a heavy emphasis on crafting. The settlement building system from Fallout 4 will likely play a much larger role in this game. It will be available for pre-order June 15th.

(AWESOME ADVENTURES OF CAPTAIN SPIRIT)

Developer Dontnod Entertainment showed off a new game in the Life is Strange universe called The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. According to the trailer, it seems to be a self-contained story following a 10-year old boy named Chris, who dreams about adventures and superheroes. Not much else is known about the game, but it will likely tie into Life is Strange 2 somehow. This game will launch completely free as well, so everyone should check it out.

CRACKDOWN 3

Microsoft released a new trailer for Crackdown 3 today. The action-packed trailer follows Terry Crews causing havoc in the new city. The game promises to be a sandbox action game with a massive fully destructible world. This trailer comes a week after the news the game would be delayed again to next year.
